What is your pH currently?
What you add depends on whether you need to increase or decrease the pH. Most people need to increase the pH and add alkalinity for buffering. Many people here have used the Steamaster tablets, from Rectorseal, but the consensus is to use less than the manufacturer recommends. Here are a couple of previous threads that include more information:

A more traditional approach is to use sodium carbonate, or washing soda.Just another DIYer | King of Prussia, PA

Boiler Water PH
Hi- Attached is an article of Dan's which might be of help to you. When was the last time your boiler was flushed? Foaming can also be caused by too high a concentration of solids (particles) in the water. Rather than just adding chemicals, you might want to flush your boiler and change the water. The boiler should be cold before attempting to flush it and you should always remember to bring any new water to the boil to drive off harmful dissolved oxygen. Since it is still winter in most places you might want to till it warms up if you decide to flush your boiler.

hi/lo PH
If you had the chance to check the Ph on the condensate returns you will notice how acidic it can get compared to the water in the boiler, so I think the tablets can be of a good use to increase ph0
