2-Pipe Copper Steam System w/ No Traps?

Yes, I know, lucky me, I live in a place where some KH piped a whole two pipe system using copper to Sunrad Burnhams.  Great.

Anyway they make this metallic rattling sound all the time.  I think it is rattling pipes, someone else told me there had to be steam traps as well that could make noise.

Landlord says there are no steam traps, is that even possible?

    If there's no radiator traps

on the outlet of the radiators, these lines might drop down to a wet return and then back to the boiler with no traps, or to a dry return and back to the boiler with returns pressurized, but this tends to create all sorts of problems in the system (no heat type problems), so that seems less likely.

If you do have a system like that, you've also probably got some interesting venting setups...

You might have an orifice system, where each radiator is restricted on the inlet valve, or in the knuckle between valve and radiator, with an orifice that only allows the amount of steam into the radiator that it can condense, so steam doesn't blow through to returns (if all is set up correctly and running properly).
