is to take a sample of the fluid and have it tested by a lab. Ph, hardness, TDS, CO2 O2 are all conditions that can be found in tap water. In some cases hydronic treatments can help, in some cases a clean and flush and refill with DI water is required if the source water is of bad quality.
Just because the water is drinkable, does not mean it is adequate for a hydronic or geo, or solar system.
Some installers rent DI towers and run the city water through them at the jobsite. Chlorinated city water is best for DI treatment. Well water could have bacteria that would contaminate the media bed in the DI unit, I learned today.
We had an excellent Water Quality webinar with Jeff Persons of GEO Source One today, he had plenty of pictures and stories of fluids gone bad.iBob "hot rod" Rohr
