Long sweep Els

Do long sweep elbows make a large difference in resistance to flow in a copper tubing hydronic system? Charts I see list an elbow in, 3/4" for instance, as adding the equivalent of 2' to HL calculations.
I see photos of systems using either type of fitting. Any rule or just a preference?
Thanks,
Mark
