Main Vent Questions - Location and Sizes

A couple months back, I replaced a Gorton D at the end of the main.  I noticed today that it was still hissing after the main warmed up.  Pressure on the boiler tends to cut off at around 1.75 psi.

Hard to tell from the pics, there is a black pipe off the Tee, it used to be capped, and i installed a Gorton #2 valve at the end of it.

I took the pic of the Gorton D when it was spewing water, that issue was resolved after jacking up the end of the main/return about a 1/4 of an inch.

Questions:

1) I have read that the vent needs to be 15" before the end of the main, looking at the pics I dont have that option.

2) Should I replace the Gorton D(someone stated it is a radiator vent??), cap the black pipe, and put 1/2" vents on top of the T with a menorah, (tight on space in that area) ?

Gorton D is a radiator vent, but

unless my information is incorrect, it has the same orifice as a Gorton #1. Other than the thread sizes they're available in, I don't think there's any difference between the two.

My hunch is that the vent has been damaged by water. You might be able to fix it by soaking it in white vinegar for a few minutes then rinsing it throughly and shaking all the water out. Then you can check it by trying to blow through it while it's turned upside-down.

Try mounting it higher up so the water won't be able to get to it as easily. It looks like you can extend it by about 10" without any problem. I don't think any other vent will fare much better in the present position.

any ideas on how to remove that reducing fitting on top of the tee

thinking about replacing the fitting with a pipe and elbow - menorah setup.
