Main Vent Spitting out Water

Few weeks back new steam boiler installed.

Noticed a few things, and now it makes sense:

- loosing water from boiler

- hearing alot of air coming out of 3-4 radiators fed from this main

- alot of dirt in the sight glass.

Today I notice water coming out of one of the gortons, alot of water, the gorton is a few months old. could the main and return have dropped a bit? before the new boiler went in, I did not have this issue.

Can I jack up the main and return an inch? Thoughts and guidance are welcome. thank you all.

    Repitching the main?

Check it with a level first. If you have to repitched it, what else will move if you jack it up?

I suspect your pigtail, or pressuretrol is allowing the pressure to get too high. An accurate 0-3 psi gauge would tell you when the pressure gets out of control.

Was the boiler cleaned after installation? Do a search for skimming.--NBC

    Main repitch

Hi NBC, i have a 5 psi guage, and the boiler shuts off around 1.5 - 1.7 psi.

    I skimmed it on Sunday.

From the piping pic, can you tell if it is a parallel or counterflow system?

Shouldnt the excess water go back to the boiler via the lower return?

Looks like it is a parallel system

I jacked the end of the main/return a little less than 1/4 inch.

Water stopped spewing out the vent.

Return has a slight pitch back to boiler.  Main has a slight pitch away from boiler.

    Hopefully this does the trick.

Glad to Hear It's Working Better

I'd re-insulate that main so it's not generating so much condensate.
