That's one way to do it.

Looks pretty ok considering you kept the old header. You should add a valve to your Hartford Loop, though. And you need a skim valve.

    Well done overall.

    Valves

    John,

I have a nipple and cap on the right side for skimming ( already skimmed the boiler). Why do recommend a valve on the Hartford loop? What is the advantage?

    Thx

    Not speaking for John here

but a valve on the Hartford loop lets you drain and flush the boiler or the return without having to drain the other to the level of the Hartford. It will also allow you to flush more gunk out of the mud leg when you open that drain on the bottom of the equalizer by preventing the condensate from the return from flowing down and washing it back into the boiler.

And, by the way, nice job. I think the tricky ones like this show the most skill and creativity.

    I've built headers like that

when there was no other way to get both steam supplies on the same end of the header.

    Nice work.

    Header

Not bad. We just did something similar on a repiping job. As long as the pitch and assembly is right, it should work great.
