where is usa

I was running an 11/4 gas line 80'. The pipe says usa on it but it does not feel like the pipe I get in my regular supply house.I dont like using chinese pipe or fittings but it is increasingly hard to find supply houses carrying american fittings.I heard a rumour that they made a town in china and called it usa pronounced yousa.Please tell me there is no truth to the rumour.

    Items are stamped with COUNTRY of origin, not town or village.  My T-shirts dont say Made in Newark.

    I remember hearing the same about Japan and Usa, 30 years ago.
