Boiler sizing with EZ gas/intrepid

What kind of combustion ratings can I expect to see with the carlin EZ gas and slant/fin intrepid?

Also, I have a building with a BTU load of 227,073.  I'm expecting to have to max out the EZ gas and was wondering if I should I go with the TR-50H or TR-50?

FYI I used the 1.3 factor when figuring the load.  The mains in the basement will be insulated.  Also, I would like to use the EZ gas because of its combustible air intake boot but I can live without that if a larger burner is recommended.

Thanks in advance,

Brian

    Carlin

Go for the Carlin 201 for higher capacities.

You can at least match the boiler efficiency, or even do a little better.

    BTU load

Is that a heat loss, or a radiation survey?

    Carlin 201

JSstar, I would like a bit more info on the Carlin 201 burner. I called Carlin today to ask about it as I had been told by them prior they didn't have any burners compatible with the TR50. Their tech said that is still correct as they were not satisfied with many aspects of this burner on the TR50,ie. efficiency, ease of installation etc. (He didn't really go into too many details.) However, the distributor for SF said their tech guy has seen them successfully used in the field many times where they work like a champ and highly recommended them. They said the Riello and Powerflame on/off burners are 2-3x the price of the Carlin201. I don't really want to pay that much more for a NON-modulating burner.

What is your take on this? Does anyone else have any experience with the Carlin201 on the SF TR50. Also, is this a very loud burner? I thought learning about the boiler was enough...guess I was wrong! Colleen

    Carlin

Sorry I missed this thread for so long.

I have not installed a Carlin burner on that model SF yet. Common sense and experience would tell me that any appliance can be converted if the proper burner is installed. The manufacturer will not say anything to get themselves in trouble. I feel that if they tested everything, then everything would be approved.

    Thank you!

Thank you, Jstar.  I figured either everyone's getting tired of my incessant posts or noone knows the answer. I realize as my questions are now quite specific, as opposed to system wide, fewer will have actual experience with the brand or models I'm investigating.. Carlin DID test out the 201 on the TR50 but for some reasons too complicated for me, they didn't like either its performance or ease of use in the field. Maybe both. I got the impression it required some finagling that the EZgas doesn't so they weren't 100% happy. I would not have questioned that if not for the suppliers input and yours. However, the supplier does have a financial interest in selling me the Carlin and maybe their installers have experience that mine certainly won't have. I just would have liked to save a few pennies if I opt for the on/off burner. I'm still waiting on Midco for the results of their tests regarding the  dcbls.

I do still  wonder what most are using with the TR50s? Has noone installed one? T14hanks again. Colleen
