how much hot water do you use?
an indirect is usually the most efficient way to make hot water with a modern oil boiler. Natural gas is cheaper at this point in time. Your location makes a difference as to what the right answer is. Electric is cheap in the Northwest U.S. and parts of Canada with hydro electric. Solar works in the sunny areas very well and well if down properly in other areas too.Cost is what you spend , value is what you get.
