Boiler size

My steam radiators egual 206 sq. ft. of radiation area, from my figures I need a 50K BTU boiler.  Do I need to to increase the net output of a boiler by 1/3 to compensate for piping loss, to have a properly size boiler.

thanks -chuck mulford-

    No

That's how they arrive at a net output. You match the net to your total EDR.

look for removed radiators and take into account their piping. It affects pick up factor.

Thanks for your response - I did remove one (6) section radiator in my kitchen - I will include the extra EDR in my boiler selection - thanks

    removed radiators

No you do not have to add them. what you do is add 1/4 edr of removed radiators, just to account for existing piping to non existing radiators.

Thanks for the info. I will thake this lesser amount (1/4 EDR) into account.
