hammering steam system

hey everyone had a call last night customer experiencing extreme water hammer on start up and also through the middle of the cycle....i found 2 four foot cast iron baseboards not properly pitched , i went a head and properly gave them pitch, i found straight  adjustable vari- vents on the end of the mains (radiator vents), i replaced them with gorton main vents, and also found a dry return that was clearly not pitched , this dry return was replaced last winter by some other company...(dry return has a significant sag in the middle that would clearly trap water and cause hammering)......i returned this morning to repair that dry return line, thinking that was the problem, but the customer told me throughout the night and morning the hammering stopped....*****so my question is with those radiator vents at the end of the mains in place instead of main vents can that have caused the hammering???

from the baseboard....and i also heard gurguling, and the vents were venting and sucking in which tells me there was condensate not draining...  in a few c.i baseboards that i pitched....water hammer got ALOT better but the vents are still venting and sucking in simuetaneously...

there was a company there last year....replaced boilers all piped in copper....it looks like they replaced dry returns (copper)...risers off mains replaced in copper...and they had (4) regular stand up radiators replaced with c.i bsboard.....and i found p-trol prss setting very high...from 4lbs -2lbs....i set p-trol to 1 1/2 - 1/2 psi..... and they bullheaded a tee on the main...basically the system got alot quieter since i pitched the (2) c.i basebds and replaced the vari-vents on the mains with gorton main vents....
