open the manual water fill valve
leave on slow feed because you don't want thermal shock
walk away and do something else
come back in 1 hour when you hear water dripping out your first floor radiator air vents.

Many of us in the same boat
After I had done it once, I had installed a spring-loaded valve such as for a camp shower on the feed line. I have a chain on that valve, and therefore cannot leave it running. Luckily the system now does .not have the problems it once had with water loss, and a very unstable water-line.--NBC0
