I'll skip trying to make the pictures upload correctly. We finished this job yesterday. At the end of a long day, we found that the gas supply was faulty from the utility service, so we never got a chance to run it. Hope to have the prolem fixed early next week. Will post some combustion results then.

    Nice

Joe: sweet install.  Nice and compact.  Knew you were the guy for the job.

    Agreed

beautiful piping. That setup, even on oil, would work a whole lot better than the old 68 ever would.

Wondering about the placement of the barometric. What you have is the accepted position for atmospheric conversion burners, this is so downdrafts will blow out thru the barometric and not into the boiler when they would blow out the pilot light. But with the electric ignition and static pressure capability of flame-retention burners like the EZ-Gas, this isn't a problem. The Carlin people told us they'd rather see it mounted like we would for an oil burner, but still with the double-swing barometric and blocked-flue switch since these are still Code requirements. But as long as it works and doesn't upset the inspector..........

You mean teed off the riser, closer to the boiler?  Just curious.

    Correct

the difference is that we're using a fan-driven burner, not an atmospheric one that relies on natural draft. This changes the way the air moves thru the chimney connector.

There was some discussion of this a while back, I'll see if I can dig it up.

    Draft control

Usually, we only have access for one location or another. I like the horizontal tee because it saves an extra elbow, and allows us to inspect the chimney without taking anything apart. I've been able to control the draft very well with either location.
