Horizontal returns and drips

when a one pipe steam dry return makes down/over/down/over /down runs back to the boiler can we add the vertical drops and some of the horizontal stacking to get the A dimension for return stacking close to the boiler and water line ? , in other words if some of the horizontal near the boiler is under water can we add that with the last vertical drop to make up the dimension stacking?

I might be wrong, but
my understanding is that there should be no horizontal runs between the water line and the A dimension.Just another DIYer | King of Prussia, PA
