Boiler
Well,it always depends on condition and history, but 15 years is usually a good time to plan for a new boiler. Most will last longer, but lose efficiency every year.0 -
When to replace
One thing to do now that the old girl is getting on in years, is to monitor the water consumption of any auto-feed you may have. This is done by valvng it off from the water supply, and checking whether the waterline rises or falls. Use a clothespin on the rods of the sightglass to mark the level, which should be at the midpoint. Constantly refeeding fresh water when there is a leak, which can be repaired , can shorten the possible 40 year life down to 25 years!
Take some pictures of the boiler, and it's piping, and we can see if there are some problems which may have been shortening it's life.--NBC0
