Flooded-affected gas appliances.

Several manufacturers have sent notices stating clearly that flood-affected gas boilers and water heaters run a high risk of dangerous malfunction if repaired and returned to service.

Jacket insulation no longer insulates and long term effects are not evident in the short term or initial evaluation.

As an installer, I've experienced all that is being noted in these bulletins.

Does anyone know the AGA's or any other nationally-recognized agency's take on this?

Thanks in advance.

    Flooded appliances

I published my usual article on the "Wall", concerning this and other matters related to flood damage.  I also left Tim MacElwain an email asking if he knew any "official" or "government" regulations on this, but I haven't heard back from him.  I know that all the controls manufacturers warn against relighting flooded items, but I don't know what the appliance manufacturers state.  I hope you didn't get any serious damage, and you and yours are OK.  If i hear anything, I'll drop you an email.  Take care.

    Thank you, Bill.

We're ok here, but my mom's house in Staten Island is hit pretty hard. Rough road ahead.

I appreciate your help with this and hope you're well.
