Whipping for firebox gasket

Please,
Where can this material be found and what is it called?
The gasket is a woven fiberglass tube over parallel strands of fiberglass. The old gasket is formed in a loop with a cloth fiberglass tape connecting the two ends. None of the supply houses have anything like it and the fireplace stores have lots of gaskets but nothing like this one.
The replacement gasket is a rope and the ends are frayed. There is no way to make a loop in the boiler's groove and capture the ends without the whipping.
The photo is of the actual taped joint. Sorry about the lighting.
