Old huge Furnace stop working

Have a very old furnace that I think is over 25 years old. It has a box that I replaced years ago called a cryoscopic Gas conversion Burner. It fixed the problem 10 years ago and I think the box went bad again. I am not getting heat but the pilot light is on. I can get the heat working if I hold a lever open and the furnace will fire right up. I let the lever go and it shuts right off.
I am thinking my issues start with that coversion burner? Can you tell me what went wrong with that conversion burner?
