1 & 2 pipe combined in one system

Does anyone out there have a opinion (ha ha) on adding a single pipe loop to a two pipe system? Would this throw off the controls? The cost of pipes would be only a little more, but there would be a savings on labor.

I think the size of the main will be the limiting factor, as suddenly the main supply will have the condensate to deal with as well as the steam. If you ran the 1pipe supply back to the header, with a dry return, it might work well, but still use lots of extra pipe.
Maybe in your case, a hot-water loop run off the boiler would work better, and give you more control.--NBC0
