Hot water loop off steam boiler

I currently have a Weil Mclain steam boiler which I installed in 2004. Since then I have added a hot water loop to serve a small addition.

I am now exploring my options of being able to take off another loop for domestic hot water since my water heater is approaching 11 years old.

Any thoughts, comments, suggestions???

    Your boiler running year round. I'm indecisive with my water heater plans as well. Not sure if i want to go the old fashioned route or tankless.

    Yes I thought of the boiler running in the summer as well.

     I dont know which would be the "Greenest " way to go..

    What size

    Is your current boiler. I was never really too fond of taking loops off of steam boilers. Never really got into that type of work. But i would imagine your typical 40-50 gallon water heater uses around 40,000 btuh at about 58% efficiency, so you would need around 25,000 btuh for your indirect. Im sure that has a decent effect on your space heating in the winter.
