    On a pedestal

You have to be dead nuts on your rough-in...or else. The left had threads is identified by the "cut" in the lands of the nut. Kinda hard to describe. On the flats where your open end wrench goes the surface has a slot cut in the circumference.

I'd just replace that Whirlpool water heater

it's a lousy, troublesome design. We like Bradford-White units, since they designed their FVIR setup so it can use standard thermocouples. Also, B-W's M4 series tank-type heaters have a higher energy factor than the usual, without the need for installing an electrical circuit to run them. This means an owner can get a more-efficient heater with no costly infrastructure changes.

    Pedistal Sinks:

Pedestal Sinks. Another old fashioned idea, brought back for nostalgia.

If you ever worked on an old one, you wonder why anyone in their right mind would want one. Where do you put your "Stuff" when you have one? Where do you put your electric toothbrush? Hair dryer? Razor? Etc? When you are done with them? How about all that "Stuff" that you put under the sink in a vanity cabinet that you don't have room for on the top?

Then, if you try to change one, good luck on the rough-in. Get out the Ram Bit.
