Replacing thermostat - anything special about power off?

In preparation for replacing my thermostat, is there anything special about shutting off power to a modcom system that I need to be aware of? My old oil boiler had a "kill" switch upstairs to shut down the boiler and pumps. I'm pretty sure that switch is still active on the new Vitodens boiler (the power to the new system comes from the existing circuit). So, can I just flip the switch?
