Bad check valve?

Hi All,

So, I posted a while ago in this thread about some mods I did to add a couple rads to my baseboard system: http://www.heatinghelp.com/forum-thread/141938/Is-this-OK-Service-bypass-for-radiators

Everything works, but I noticed something weird this morning:

Both heating zone's thermostats are currently turned off. When I came downstairs this morning, I heard the baseboard rads "pinging" like the were getting heat. I put my hand on one, and it was slightly warm, but not really hot like they get when on. I confirmed the therms were off.

Now, the hot water tank was probably calling for heat because my wife was in the shower at the time.

Does that sound like a bad check valve in the downstairs zone?

Thanks for any insight,

-John
