Hot water baseboard tap from Steam boiler
Help_Please
Member Posts: 3
Hi all, I have read many post on this site, but still lost.
I can do most of the piping and that about it....
Need assistance with wiring and choosing relays.
- I would like to have the steam boiler turn on to boil the water around 160 degrees, without making steam, when the basement thermostat is triggered.
After reading the many post at the site. I would like if possible some pictures of what type of relay? aquastat? and how I can tied it into my existing WellsMclean boiler.
Thank you in advance.

Hot water loop
Click on the systems tab at the top of the page, then on hot water. Then click on condensate hot water heating. Your questions will be answered there.0 -
Here is one such job we did
this one is feeding an indirect but a baseboard loop would use the same hookup:
http://www.heatinghelp.com/forum-thread/132567/One-of-the-worst-maintained-oil-fired-boilers-weve-seen
Basically, you use the thermostat (or aquastat on the indirect) to operate a standard R845 relay. The line-voltage contacts on the R845 operate the loop circulator and the low-voltage contacts operate the burner. An aquastat breaks the low-voltage circuit between the relay and the burner if the water temperature gets too high.
The main (steam) thermostat is wired to the burner in parallel with the loop relay circuit that goes thru the aquastat. In this way, the burner will run independently of the loop aquastat when the main house calls for heat.
The loop aquastat is placed on a tee where the loop comes out of the boiler. This one has a long probe so it can reach clear thru the tee into the boiler section. All Steamed Up, Inc.
