Replacing a old Crane

After 15 years in the HPAC business, My first 2 pipe steam job and what a beauty. A 1948 Crane 198,000btu. Set up very nicely. I almost wish that I could replace the cracked section, but its time to say goodby. The customer has chosen a Peerless 63, a good choice for this application, I have installed quite a few of them in steam and hot water. The house has 250 sq ft of radiation and the customer wants to add another 100 to an addition. My quandry is what to use, a 03 or a 04L my instinct says the 04L, but will I be oversizing it to much?

    radiation

Make sure that the steam mains can handle the extra radiation. A 2" main should handle 350 edr with no problem.

    Go with the 63-04L

that way there won't be any issues when the addition is built.

What kind of 2-pipe system is it?

    adding another takeoff to a 3" drop header with 2, 2 1/2 risers shouldn't be a problem.

    Boiler size

Is there a hi-lo burner for that boiler to accommodate the range of edr from present to future needs? Maybe Peerless has a "mod-u-pac" available.--NBC
