i know two LWCO's are needed for a commercial application, but I'm wondering if the secondary reset one can be a probe type or does it have to be a float type? State is NJ.

    either one

i believe that either one is acceptable .I personally perferr a electronic probe type over the reset type float type espically if the facility does not have a lic boiler operator .If the facility does have lic engerneers 24/7 then in all probality it would be a float stlye .On a side note i always see larger boiler (over 1mbtu)with the wrong size lwco it seems they are even sent with the smallest cheapest lwco usually on larger boiler i use a # 67 bowl type and either another 67 with a manual reset and as a futher safety a final probe type lwco manual reset. When a large proper installer steam boiler can run some big bucks the extra manual lwco and a water meter and such are nothing in cost as compared to replaceing the boiler or section late which would not be free if the damage occured due to lack of blow downs for the operating lwco and the manual reset lwco.I have also seen in nj and resetable hi temp aquastat installed in the boiler block pass set at 240  have only seen it twice and for myself i would not use it in place of a secondary lwco .Personally any steam boiler install over 12 grand should have one it is the cheapest insurance and a great peace of mind buyer .Hope this helps peace and good luck clammy
