2 pipe radiator Q....

Went to do a service call on what I was told was a HW heating system. Upon arriving the system was clearly a 2 pipe steam system. The radiator looks like it has been repaired many years ago w/ JB-weld or the like. The repair has failed. So in order to stop the water from making a mess I disconnected the radiator and capped it off. Much to my surprise there was a good deal of water in this radiator (3 gallons)..... Does this mean that the steam trap has given up the ghost and needs to be replaced? ty,kpc

I would believe so
otherwise the trap should have been open allowing draiange..it is also possible it is clogged with rust or gunk and is open but clogged..gwgillplumbingandheating.com
