Utahn visiting Detroit in March 12th-16th

I will be attending Hamilton Engineering training class on march 14th and 15th. I would love to meet folks and make new friends or just put me in a boiler room to calm my nerves and feel at home.

I am a service technician / plumber and recently self employed .

Any suggestions on what to do for a couple days ?

This sounds like a movie. Correct me if I'm wrong, that makes you from Utah?

First of all, when visiting Detroit the most important thing is to have a well planned exit strategy. Now after all of training stuff is done and a you have a little spare time on your hands, go north

Windsor, Canada is the place. The strip clubs (money), the casinos (money) are just the ticket.

    Now don't forget your passport.

I'll just leave it at that. Good luck on all your ventures!

I am an active member of the church here in Utah and no passport . Me visiting Detroit is not a movie just my reality . My plans so far is to hideout in the hotel Mechanical room for a few days and see what Hamilton wants me to know about their boilers . I hope not to make the news .

Is there anything good about Detroit?

    Let's watch our P's and Q's

Several of us are from Detroit, which unfortunately has earned some of it's bad rap. Having said that, there are lots of great things to see and do here. Plenty of good eating, lot's of great history and wonderful people. I recommend the Henry Ford museum, Hitsville USA (Motown Museum), and a drive through the Indian Village neighborhood. Great polish food in Hamtramck (Village Cafe or Polonia on Yemans Street), Pegasus or Golden Fleece in Greektown, Slow's BBQ on Michigan, any place in Mexicantown, etc.

    Sorry

    No disrespect intended.

Back in 06 a trip to Super bowl turned in to plenty more than football. That trip to Detroit was one I'll never forget.

My wife has told that story a dozen times. We all had a great time in Detroit.

    All the best!
