I was called up to a downtown tower to quote a maintenance contract on the boilers. One was a Smith steam unit used for making humidity for the ventilation system. We had assembled the boiler for the contractor that had the contract for the system upgrade. We get refered often by manufacturers to assemble boilers! This instalation was signed off by the consulting engineers. The building was purchased by an insurance company last year and had due diligence done by another firm of engineers.

Of course none of them are experts in steam! This boiler is 4 years old and already showing signs of leakage. The header is pulling the boiler apart. There are no swing joints and the outlet of the headder is horizontal! Does nobody read an I&O manual these days?
