Grossly over sized furnace but properly sized a/c

I am currently looking at a job that has an extremely large furnace (two times the heat load) but a properly sized single stage a/c unit.
The homeowners would like to zone the house from top to bottom! The first floor load is basically two thirds the entire load.
I do not see how this could be fully advantages to them in anyway. Even with bypass dampering the single stage 4 ton a/c system with short cycle and not dehumidify the home properly.
Just looking for others input for or against my thoughts. Any information would be greatly appreciated

Can't turn a sow's ear into a silk purse
The homeowner can throw a bunch of money at a very poorly designed and likely installed system and it still will not work correctly or efficiently. Put a properly sized multi or at least two stage furnace in, see how the comfort is and modify from there. There are times that you just have to sit the customer down, look him in the eye and give him really bad news. It will be better for you too, I think!0
