Why would i have to keep hitting the reset on my 8184 control?

    far too many to list

    I would start with a servicing if it has been a year or more. That should eliminate most of the common causes

    One Reason:

    The number one reason I have found is that the control doesn't "see" a flame.

    8184 resets

    plugged  pump strainer  &   or  filter=   restricted fuel supply =  crappy flame=  safety shutdown..as it should.

    No spark, poor spark, grounding spark, ad nauseum.

    filter and or strainer caused by running out of oil.

    I would

    start by calling back the service personnel. You shouldn't have to trouble shoot for them either. If they are not qualified, then, check on here for a contractor near you. Not all problems can be resolved one stop, but anything and everything should be tested and checked.
