    Banging

For starters I suspect that 2lbs. is way more pressure than you should be running but.... I have not had the chance to crawl around your basement and inspect the piping either but normally residential steam will run about 1/2 a pound so try cranking it down and see what you get.  Banging is caused by steam coming in contact with condensate (water) and flashing that water back into steam so too much pressure can be an issue here as well as plugged returns.

    More questions?..

Did you just replace the boiler and now you have banging? At what part of the heating cycle do you hear the banging? Are your main(s) straight and properly pitched? Are you sure you have the right main vent?

There was an error rendering this rich post.

    Skimming?

What does the water in the sight glass look like? Is it clean and does it not bounce more than +/- 1/4" while steaming?

If the water is dirty or bouncing excessively the boiler may need to be skimmed.
