    boiler problems

can we have some more info please, such as, type of system, and system pressure. some pictures of the boiler piping, and radiator valves would help to identify the system.--nbc

    short-cycling w/cold riser

short cycling can be caused by either inadequate main [not rad venting], or an over-sized boiler, so which applies to your situation?

are the main vents working properly, and what is the back-pressure of venting? if it is above an ounce or 2, then you probably need more gortons.

for the cold riser, can you feel where the riser goes cold? there could be a sag in some horizontal portion which is trapping air, thus preventing the steam from entering.

maybe the thermostat is located in a place where it is satisfied before this slower riser gets steam.--nbc
