Check out this Ideal Oil Burner #92 in a 4000+ sf "home" near Detroit. I love the chrome (nickel?) plated edging on the jacket. I love the original Vaporstat too. Glad to see a lot of this stuff unmolested. The burner's been converted to gas.

nice pics!
That beast looks like about the size of a boiler I've got in a 19 unit apartment building. How many sq. ft. of steam does that thing do?0 -
More pictures
Hi Motown,
Can you post some more pics of the near boiler piping? BTW, I live in the UP,
We have lots of Webster vapor systems, and an occasional Trane vapor (I've only ran into one) around Marquette. A few two-pipe air vent, and lots of one pipe systems. It always nice to see an older system still in use, that looks like it's been maintained. Thanks for the pics.

Sorry, no more pictures
This home is for sale. My wife and I attended the open house yesterday just being nosy neighbors. Can't give you any more info or pics. I suspect this is a Trane Vapor system (two-pipe) and I id'ed a Trane #11 Direct Return Trap just like mine.
Ross-my grandmother was from L'Anse! I bet the team systems really get a workout up there!0 -
Beautiful!
That boiler looks beautiful. Nice clean boiler room too, painted floor, etc. I imagine that there are plenty of other spaces in the basement for a "rec" room, but the boiler room looks like it would perform that function very well.Dave in Quad Cities, America

it was...
this whole house was super cool. The "main" basement rooms had beautiful terrazzo floors, the largest had a fireplace. It was built in 1925, and a lot of the basements in this neighborhood doubled as nightclubs for friends and family during Prohibition.
There were lot's of little auxiliary rooms (storage, larder, scullery, etc). Incinerator, servant's stairs, delivery doors, call buttons, etc. This house being mostly original give a great perspective on life of the upper middle class in the roaring twenties.0 -
L'Anse
Motown,
Small world! I work here at NMU in Marquette with our 85# central steam plant with pressure reducing stations. Not as fun as when I used to work on the old antiquated, steam systems, around Mqt. County. I still get calls from some local contractors, when they have a question, or a problem. What was your Gram's last name? I work with an electrician here at the shop, that has a lot of family up by Skanee & L'Anse.0 -
Was that the one with the pool?
House shopping is always fun! There was an error rendering this rich post.

nope, different home
No, this was a home someone could actually move into and live in! If they had the $400K it'd take to get the title! The pool house is listed in the $130's, but I think $80 or $90k cash would take it off the bank's hands. Some homes get lucky, others rot......0
