Economical contact thermometers

Do such beasts exist? In Ontario, they sure seem hard to come by. I am looking for low cost thermometers that can be strapped (or otherwise attached) to PEX or copper or black steel in order to get a sense of temp. differentials. It is not so much about accuracy, but rather about temp differences. (I would like to know the temp of the water entering and leaving my heat exchangers, GARN unit, etc.)
The lowest cost I have found is around $30 per. As anybody got a site or source?

Get a visual indication of your changing surface temperature. These labels have temperature windows that turn from black to green to measure approximate temperature. When the surface cools, the window color returns to black. Accuracy is ±1.8° F. Labels are self-adhesive and have °F and °C markings. Package quantity is 10.Temperature

RE: thermostats
Looks like a very viable solution nbc! Would have liked to see a little more range (the model with the range I am looking at has 9 degrees F increments. At this price though I could buy two packages with adjacent ranges. Thanks so much. I appreciate your time and effort.

Do you speak "C"
I have some of these snap on that read in Celsius. They fit 1/2- 5/8" pex.
If you know flow rate and read the temperature difference you can calculate BTU delivered. A nice troubleshooting tool. Install them with a dab of heat transfer grease under them.
Got a mailing address I'll send some to you.

Thermometer donation
Just thought acts of kindness should not go unnoticed. I would just like to publically thank Hot Rod for sending me some thermometers for free. He even paid for the shipping to Canada. This act of generosity is very much appreciated! Thanks so much Hot Rod!0
