Odd steam problem

Just replaced gas steam boiler (residential), sized boiler by sq ft of steam based on radiator sizing. Full 3" dual header with expansion loop connecting to two separate distribution mains. System was banging and upon inspection, looked like system was surging and throwing water into mains. Boiler was skimmed at installation and re-skimmed today. Added steam clean to system but with no avail. The odd thing that happened was when we shut boiler down, it started banging again and we opened boiler drain (on boiler) the system was in a vacuum and sucked air in and then started to drain. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Well we...
would love pictures...... Is the piping insulated? There could be a lot of junk still in the system. How long did you flush the system and how long did you skim? The chemicals could work against you.... Not to insult you but, you followed the manual diagrams, right? What make and model?0 -
Does the system have any vacuum vents?
I've seen these things hold water up in the system and cause banging. All Steamed Up, Inc.
