Snowmelt

I have maybe just inherited a snow melt system. The tubes are buried deep in the cement. Four circuits in the basement. No sensor installed in the pavers.

I am looking for some type of add on sensor to make the system turn on automatically come the snow fall. I spoke to Tekmar and they had nothing for me except to core drill and add a sensor.

Anybody have a product that can be installed outside, maybe next to the slab or something?

Thanks for the help.

    Options...

ETI makes a nice remote snow switch.

HeatTimer use to have one that monitored the supply and return lines (constant run pump) and fired based on delta T indicating snow. Never used it tho...

There is another company in Colorado Springs that makes one, but have not used it, and if memory serves me correctly, it too is a slab sensing device.

    Remote Snowmelt Sensor

I have used these in the past when the slab sensor was forgotten. (Concrete just cures way too quickly!!)

ETI makes a sensor that does not mount in the snowmelt area, but you don't mount it on the ground. It has a moisture sensor and an air  temperature sensor.

THe LCD-1 or 3 works just great
