I'm having an air problem with a hot water heating system that I recently installed, I can't get all of the air out the system. How is it possible that air can can get in to a closed loop system other than through the boiler feed ? The homeowner has said that, at night, a loud bang is emitted from the heating system, could this be an air problem ? could a slight drip on one of the purge valves suck air into the system ? I'm at wits end trying to fis this.

Are you sure it is air...
Are you sure the noise is due to air? An over-sized circulator on a zone valve system can create velocity noise in the piping.0
