Purge Air from System

We are having a discussion regarding the best/easiest way to purge air from a boiler system. For instance, WM CGi, single loop baseboard system with no vents on upper floors. What would be the best &/or easiest means to purge the system after shutting it down to install a new circulator pump?

If properly installed...
There SHOULD be a means of forcing water through the loops to a purge point in the mechanical room.
Some of the "Dead Men" set these systems up in such a manner that you had to run the water through the system BACKWARDS. I suspect it was their means of setting the system up such that only THEY could figure out how to purge it.
