I need a two-stage t-stat that uses set point staging rather than time-based staging in heating mode. Do any fellow Wallies know of such an item?

Thanks,

mw

    check here...at TEKMAR

Without knowing quite what your shooting for, I would check with tekmar's support.  Here's the link for t'stats... http://www.tekmarcontrols.com/zoning/546.html

There was an error rendering this rich post.

    2-stage thermostat

I assume this thermostat would be for a forced air system, so why not post this question in the controls section here.--NBC

    2 Stage t-stat

No, this thermostat would be used in a hydronic application.1st stage heat would be radiant floor and 2nd stage would initiate a higher loop temperature  to bring on fan coils when needed, based on space temperature offset. Variable speed mixing would maintain low temp for radiant during a second stage call. W2 call would land on Lochinvar Knight thermostat 2 contact which would be programmed accordingly. This set up is for a huge welding shop (10,000 Sq ft) where giant doors are opened and closed several times per day.

    Thanks,

    Don't they all?

Seems to me all of the 2 stage stats look at  room temp and setpoint to determine whether to call for 2nd stage. Some may add some logic such as how the house temp is varying and how fast. Some have settings to tell the offset from room temp before 2nd stage calls. Say 1° drop you get 1st stage, another degree drop and 2nd stage calls for example.

    Honeywell

    Honeywell thermostats will do that.
