Hello, looking for some help, searched all over online could find nothing...
Utica Gas Boiler 125AGB, purging entire system out the left hand/side valve/drain pipe. What's my next step after build an ark? Shut down water? Call repair immediately or any chance to fix it myself?
Looking for some edumacation.....
Thank You,

Call a pro
could be several things- expansion tank, fill valve or the safety valve itself. This is a safety issue- try the Find a Contractor page of this site. All Steamed Up, Inc.

Place yer bets
I did just call a Pro, thanks, shut off the water to the boiler, and laid all of my sons' hockey gear on the deck in front of a fan to hopefully dry...before gametime
Anyone care to speculate where this resides in the normal/serious/yer hosed repair category or too little information at this point?0 -
purging boiler
for the moment, turn off power to the boiler, and turn off the water valve which would fill the boiler. if this boiler also makes hot water, you should turn off the inlet to the hot water circuit, or just turn off the whole house stop valve. this will keep you dry until the pro arrives.
as steamhead has said, this could be a safety issue, arising from a leak of potable water from the hot water coil, if there is one, or perhaps a failure of the expansion tank to accommodate the expansion of the water as it heats up. possibly the pressure relief valve has failed as well.--nbc0 -
Jury rigged
Simpliest things....thanks for the reminder, shut off the power as well...shoulda been 1st on the list, but I jury rigged a funnel and hose to catch the water and drain into sump...I obviously did not sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night...
though I now know why it was so cold...0
