Low ambient control kit installation issues

I have installed a Klimaire, KSWM018-H213, heat pump 18,000 and the supplier suggested a compatible low ambient add on kit, HPLAC-2/1. This is a simple install!!! I am having an issue getting it to work at all. The directions are simple enough, interrupt the 240v two supply legs of the condenser fan with the controller and strap on the temp sensor, interrupt the reversing valve feed and connect to the controller. I think I know my problem. I need to bypass the heat pumps fan controller and connect to the hot side. Powering the new fan controller (low ambient controller). Please help!
