cracked steam boiler replacement

My steam boiler cracked and is no longer operable. Thankfully nobody in the home was hurt by this and the fire department came pretty quickly after the smoke alarms went off. Now I am dealing with replacing the boiler. However, the old burnham gas fueled steam boiler had a hot water baseboard loop connected to it heating an addition that was done prior to my purchase of the home. I am presently renovating my attic and was considering adding a second loop to a replacement steam boiler. first, is this possible? (pse&g is trying to convince me to get two separate boilers, one for the steam and one for the hot water closed loops. ) two, even if it is doable does pse&g have a point and should i get the two boilers anyway?

Why not.....
just extend the steam to the attic. The rooms below will need less heat, so you can swap in smaller radiators and then add a couple of risers and install a couple of small rediators on the top floor. There was an error rendering this rich post.

Not a problem
We use plate heat exchangers . Has to be flushed out periodically , but works like a champ !0
