Where to get heat calculations done

Hi there,
Does anyone know a company that I can send my floor plans to, to have heat calculations done?
We're renovating a 7-unit apartment building built in 1880. We've changed the floor plans, insulated the walls, but we're putting back in the old cast iron rads.
I've found calculators on the internet (like this one: http://www.theradiatorcompany.co.uk/heatoutput/) that calculate the heat output by room, but i'm not sure if i can trust the calculations.
I'm in Ontario, Canada and a lot of these companies that have calculators are in the UK where climate is different.
Any help at all is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Juliana

Heat Output?
Hi Juliana- I'm not quite sure whether you want Heat Loss per room or the heat out put of the radiators per room. You say, "We've changed the floor plans, insulated the walls, but we're putting back in the old cast iron rads". Does this mean the radiators are being reconnected in the same position as they were located before the renovation? Are these steam radiators? If so for heat output you would just need to calculate the total EDR of the individual radiators in a room and multiply by 240 to get the BTU heat output per room. I've attached an sheet to help calculate the EDR of individual radiators. If you need the figure for Hot Water radiators note the 185 BTU conversion factor at the bottom of the page on the attached form.
If you need Heat Loss per room calculation you might want to post your question on the Main Wall as the guys that do heat loss calculations are more likely to hang out over there.

Heat loss
Hi Rod,
Thanks for this info. THat's very helpful. I had a company calculate the heat output of the rads (i will use the chart you sent me to check their calculations). I'm told I have hot water rads.
Other than that, I am trying to find a calculator to accurately calculate the heat loss per room. I will take your advice and post my question on the main wall.
Thanks again,

Hi Juliana
You will need more info, for people here to give you accurate estimates. Typically its based off if the room has heated space adjacent or above/ below it. How many windows are in each room, wall construction, etc. There are calculators out there, but I'm not sure which provides the best results, (I've gotten mixed results from several online calculators) the pros here would know which ones consistently give good results. Good Luck! There was an error rendering this rich post.
