I am HO in the midst of a oil to gas conversion. This is an old house with Steam radiators. The current furnace is oil and its VERY old and working beautifully with AFG Beckett burner.
The ONLY reason for the conversion:
1. Savings in heating cost.Gas is at 1.16 CCF here.Oil is 3.50/Gal.
I need help sizing the new gas steam boiler.
The following are my radiator sizes.
Width of each column on "Old Radiator" = 3.5 inches
26" * 11 (Sections) * 2 Columns ("old radiator style"..see attached pic)
22" * 11 (Sections) * 2 Columns ("old radiator style"..see attached pic)
22" * 11 (Sections) * 2 Columns ("old radiator style"..see attached pic)
36" * 6
(Sections) * 2 Columns ("old radiator style"..see attached pic)
36" * 6 (Sections) * 2
Columns ("old radiator style"..see attached pic)
36" * 6 (Sections) * 2 Columns ("old radiator style"..see attached pic)
25" * 6 (section) * 4 Tubes ("new radiator style"..see attached pic)
25" * 10 (section) * 4
Tubes ("new radiator style"..see attached pic)
25" * 10 (section) * 4 Tubes ("new radiator style"..see attached pic)
Wall radiator dimension is 29 inches Length * 22 Inches
High * 6 inches deep...
Total 10 Radiators.I have measured the height from the floor to
the top of the Radiator.
Per my calculation the total SQF of steam is 292.53 NOT adding the equalization factor.

My old and new radiator pics are here.
I am looking into this crown boiler.

My installer is sizing it to BSI103 (click product ratings). Per my calculation it is undersized. Am I wrong?
Please help.

Those older rads
are not standard 2-column units. They look like H.B. Smith ones, possibly the "Princess" model, and their ratings are different from standard 2-column rads. If you have a copy of Dan's book "E.D.R.", you can find the charts there. All Steamed Up, Inc.
