pvc vs stainless or metal venting

I've read about this on the wall before; Is it the pvc manufacturer who does not approve of it product to be used for venting? I don't like the stuff for purpose, bad install, but that's what the inspectors allow out here. And also allow venting to be buried in the walls and ceilings.

Vent material
One can only install venting material that is speficaly named in the manufacturer's certified Installation & Operation manual. In Canada, 3 feet of visible plastic venting is obligatory. FYI, S636 PVC and CPVC venting pipe is of the same construction as SCH40 PVC and CPVC except for the colour. The reason for this is that there are no manufacturing standards for PVC and CPVC vent pipe and fittings while there are for SCH40.0
