Timken help

I own a cabin that I only use 8 months of the year. I have a Timken Silent Automatic hot air furnace. I would love to have it cleaned and tuned up. Is there anyone in the York, Carlisle, Gettysburg PA area that knows anything about this unit. It is a classic ;-)

    it is a rotary type

It has a carburetor on the front side and a motor that slings the kero.

    wish I was closer

I miss working on Timkens. You have an auto-pulse pump, and those are hard to find for parts. The distributor is what delivers the fuel as it rotates. Is it not working now? Finding parts and guys who want to, or know how to work on it will be close to impossible. I think it's time to bite the bullet. They were tops in my book

    Timken

It still works. I, unfortunately, left it running when I closed it up a few weeks ago and I ran the tank empty. It must have been sucking sludge from the bottom of the tank because it really put out a lot of smoke. I have subsequently, drained the carb and fired it up with fresh kero and it seems to be fine. I even flushed out the line from the tank to the carb. I only use the unit about 6 weekends a year and I would hate to toss it.

    You have my blessings

to keep it around. Others may not. It is obviously a unit that you don't need to rely on year round. I would learn what you can on this unit, so you can keep it running. Always check the safety at the start of each season to make sure it locks out if need be. Keep in mind that these things have hurt and killed techs before, so trying to locate a tech to service it would be in your best interest. Not to put the fear in you.
