Garage thermostat 110v on the blink?

I have an on demand hot water supplied radiator in my garage. A 110v fan, controlled by a 110v thermostat (dial type). The original was an old grey GE. I thought it had stopped working because whe the garage was cold it would turn on, but it wouldn't turn off. I replaced the thermostat with a comparable one from Lowes. It us doing the same thing. I had it set for 60 degrees and it came on, but it heated the garage to 75 and didn't shut off. Is something else wrong or did I get a bad thermostat?

could it be
residual heat? What thermostat did you get? Where is the thermostat located? On the unit itself?0
