I need a thermally activated water valve

I hope I am posting this in the right place.
About 5 years ago I purchased a valve online that was designed to open when the water temp. hit 90 degrees and close when it dropped.
It had a female fitting that a standard garden hose screwed into. It was a one piece device and it allowed the water to shoot out of the opposite side from where the female fitting was located. It was small and round in shape, about 6 inches long and maybe 4 inch in diameter.
It was designed to be used with pool solar panels, basically an on/off switch so that you could heat the water collected in your panel or rolled up hose and then dump it into the pool when the water temp hit 90 over and over on a sunny day.
When attached to a garden hose you hung the hose into the pool water so that the sun itself wouldnt heat the valve and make it open up too early. It was a pretty nifty device
I cant seem to find another one anywhere, as the person I bought it from is no longer around.
I know this had to be re-branded or easily put together from a few parts, but I dont know what they are called or where to get them or even where to look..
I wouldnt be surprised if its an off spring of a heating part or control. Or a combination of parts that he assembled at home
Any ideas?
